Student Ambassadors

Welcome to the Student Ambassador program at the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech!

This select group of students seeks to positively impact our campus and community as a representative of our school. Whether at school events, in class, or replying to emails from prospective Hokies, these representatives aim to spread the word about their program of choice and the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. Get to know both our Building Construction and Construction Engineering and Management ambassadors below.

Student Ambassadors have the opportunity to represent the Myers-Lawson School and Virginia Tech at a variety of events and functions. Student Ambassadors are expected to serve as role models for other students and actively promote the Myers-Lawson School of Construction to prospective students, parents, and other members of the community. These students develop leadership skills and become active members of the Virginia Tech community.

Being a Student Ambassador is a rewarding and challenging experience that provides students with valuable skills and experiences that benefit them both personally and professionally.

Building Construction Ambassadors

To be eligible for a Building Construction Ambassador, students must be returning for enrollment the following academic year and have an overall 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Students must have a faculty recommendation to complete an application. Once an application is submitted, the committee will solicit faculty recommendation letters. This process happens during the spring semester, typically in mid-March. Once selected, training typically happens during the month of April. Reach out to Senior Academic Advisor, Gary Kinder, at gkinder@vt.edu if you would like to learn more.

Construction Engineering and Management Ambassadors

Application information is sent via the CEM student listserv at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters with selection and training by mid-semester. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA as well as a faculty endorsement. Students may also be required to have an interview with the current ambassador team. Reach out to Academic Advisor, Sharon Williams, at sharon.williams@vt.edu to learn more, and click here to apply.
