Why did you choose Virginia Tech?
"Virginia Tech's main priority is its students. I knew when deciding to come here that everyone in the Building Construction program would be rooting for my success while also providing the tools and resources to expand my opportunities. I cannot begin to explain the amount of support I have received and how it has completely enriched my collegiate experience. Virginia Tech, 100% is home."
Why did you choose Building Construction (BC)?
"While spending time with my grandparents, they loved HGTV. I immediately became enthralled with residential home-building and renovations. I always spent my free time on Zillow looking at homes and going to open houses or researching different builders to compare their work. I originally looked into architecture during my freshman year in high school and quickly learned I wanted to be boots on the ground on site every day."
Career Goals
"My main career goal is to eventually have my own custom home company. I plan to make this goal a reality by taking advantage of opportunities that present themselves to me now in college like taking a special study, studying the restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, and gaining summer internships. As well as reaching out to industry professionals and asking as many questions as I can."
What would you tell students who are interested in joining the Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC)?
"I would tell students that if they have a passion for construction then this is the place for them. All of the students and professors I meet in MLSoC have the same passion and drive to want to change the world in the future and are willing to put in the hard work to make that happen. We also have professors who constantly encourage us to be the best we can possibly be."
