Why did you choose Virginia Tech?
"I chose Virginia Tech because it felt like the right fit for me. The university’s strong reputation in areas like construction and engineering really caught my eye, but it was the hands-on learning and the chance to actually apply what I was learning that really sold me. What also stood out was the sense of community here — the Hokie spirit is real, and it feels like everyone genuinely wants to see you succeed. I knew this would be a place where I could grow both in and outside of the classroom, surrounded by passionate people who are all working toward their goals."
Why did you choose Building Construction (BC)?
"Choosing the BC program was an easy decision for me. I've had a fascination with construction since I was young, and it felt like the natural path to pursue. On top of that, knowing that Virginia Tech’s BC program is recognized as one of the best in the country gave me even more confidence in my choice. The quality of the program and its reputation reassured me that I’d be receiving an education that would truly set me up for success in the industry."
Career Goals
"As I look ahead to my future career, I don’t have a specific path in the construction industry in mind just yet. However, one possibility I’m considering is earning my BC degree and then pursuing a JD (Juris Doctor) with a focus on construction law. This combination could open doors to a unique and impactful career, where I can blend my knowledge of construction with legal expertise to navigate the complexities of the industry."
What would you tell students who are interested in joining the Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC)?
"Students who join MLSoC gain access to limitless opportunities within the construction industry. One of the standout benefits is the guaranteed job placement upon graduation, which is incredibly reassuring as you prepare to enter the workforce. Having the certainty of a job lined up makes the decision of which industry to pursue much clearer and less daunting. If you're feeling uncertain about joining MLSoC, I highly recommend doing some research and connecting with current students in the program. Their insights can provide valuable guidance and help you fully understand the vast range of opportunities and support that MLSoC offers."
