Degree

B.S. in Construction Engineering and Management, minors in leadership and green engineering

Why did you choose Virginia Tech?

"I chose Virginia Tech because I admired the engineering program and was interested in joining the Corps of Cadets and Virginia Tech Rescue Squad."

Why did you choose Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)?

"I decided to pursue Construction Engineering and Management because, prior to this, I wanted to leave school to work as a laborer. When I discovered this program, I felt a sense of belonging and purpose. I have enjoyed the community, plentiful opportunities, and vast network of relationships."

Career Goals

"Upon graduation, I will work for the Department of Defense. They have provided me with a generous scholarship for my final two years of school and in return, I owe them two years as a civilian in acquisitions and sustainment. I would like to focus the beginning of my career on facility acquisition and maintenance for the DoD, then possibly transition to the private industry to focus on modular construction and leadership consulting."

What would you tell students who are interested in joining the Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC)?

"The Myers-Lawson School of Construction is a rewarding learning environment. Students get out more than they put in due to the enthusiasm from faculty, staff, alumni, and the industry. There are numerous extracurriculars to enrich the student experience, from competition teams like the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) and Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) to service-learning classes and volunteer clubs. The content is relevant, hands-on, and prepares us well for our internships and careers. "
