Role and Background

Josh Iorio is a Collegiate Associate Professor who serves as the Assistant Director for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC). He joined Virginia Tech in 2012.

Josh teaches graduate and undergraduate classes on leadership, conflict management, and effective communication. He is also responsible for a variety of administrative functions related to human resource management within MLSoC.

In close partnership with construction organizations, Josh's current research interests focus on improving recruitment and retention in the construction industry through enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion. His earlier work explored the interactional dynamics of virtual teams, with particular focus on conflict, leadership, and communication. 

Education

Josh holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Arts in English from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
