Role and Background
Dr. Josh Iorio is a Collegiate Associate Professor who serves as the Assistant Director for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC). He joined Virginia Tech in 2012.
Dr. Iorio teaches graduate and undergraduate leadership, conflict management, and effective communication classes. He is also responsible for a variety of administrative functions related to human resource management within MLSoC.
In close partnership with construction organizations, Dr. Iorio's current research interests focus on improving recruitment and retention in the construction industry through enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. His earlier work explored the interactional dynamics of virtual teams, with a particular focus on conflict, leadership, and communication.
Education
Dr. Iorio holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin, a M.A. in English from East Carolina University, and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
