Role and Background
Dr. Kevin Boyle serves as the Willis Blackwood Director of the Blackwood Department of Real Estate in the Pamplin College of Business. He joined Virginia Tech in 2005.
Dr. Boyle’s research focuses on improving methods to measure nonmarket values and to elicit preferences. In his research, Dr. Boyle is exploring the estimation of property-value models to understand how amenities and disamenities affect real estate market values.
Dr. Boyle has participated in numerous projects throughout the U.S. and in Canada, Chile, Australia, Bangladesh and India. He has been awarded more than $12 million in grant funding, published more than 100 journal articles, and has received numerous scholarly awards.
Previously, Dr. Boyle served as Professor for the Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics before founding the Blackwood Department of Real Estate.
Education
Dr. Boyle holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Maine, an M.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Oregon State University, and a P.hD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
