Role and Background 

Dr. Richard L. Clark, Jr. serves as an adjunct faculty member for Building Construction at Virginia Tech. He is responsible for the courses within the department that focus on construction data analysis and structural analysis. As well, he is involved in departmental accreditation and recruitment. He joined Virginia Tech in 2006.

Dr. Clark continues to gratefully serve the department and students in the classroom. His prior experience includes analysis of numerous materials used in aerospace, automotive, biomedical implants, and the construction industry. In addition to these research interests, he is also responsible for the department’s American Department of Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation for structural topics.

Dr. Clark is involved in departmental recruiting, specifically recruiting students from the Virginia Community College System where he develops coursework for transfer students to easily transfer to building construction at Virginia Tech.

Education

Dr. Clark holds a Ph.D. (1996), M.S. (1994), and B.S. (1991) in Materials Science and Engineering from Virgnia Tech.
