Why did you choose Virginia Tech?
"I chose Virginia Tech for a multitude of reasons. Tech has the exact major I was looking for; it is a very large school and college town; the food is beyond incredible; and it is far enough from home to where my parents can't surprise me every weekend. Most importantly, though, is the people. The energy of the university and the honest, genuine, integrity of the students and faculty made it a no brainer that Virginia Tech is the place for me. The open motto is Ut Prosim after all."
Why did you choose Construction Engineering and Management?
"I have always loved two things: legos and making people smile. Over the course of my academic career, I have found that Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) combines my two passions. I can design and build structures and simultaneously help people. I have always felt that to be successful, your work has to provide value. CEM is the perfect major that uses my skills to benefit the future of others."
Career Goals
"I have watched enough David Attenborough documentaries to know we need to save this planet. The construction industry is a major contributor to emissions, and it is integral we find a way to fix this. My goal is to open my own firm that specializes in net zero construction through all phases of the construction process."
What would you tell students who are interested in joining MLSoC?
"I have learned that while construction is an industry of tools, materials, and big machines, it is really an industry of people. No project can be accomplished without the constant communication between parties. If you are someone who likes working in groups, seeing physical results, and enjoys building a future for your community, then MLSoC welcomes you into our family."
