Role and Background
Dr. Brian M. Kleiner serves as the Director for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. He joined Virginia Tech in the mid-1990s.
Dr. Kleiner’s research focuses on occupational and non-occupational safety, health, and wellness. In construction, he is exploring the role of automation and the role of the human in increasingly automated industrialized construction environments. He aims to impact the performance of a changing construction industry.
Previously, he served as the Founding Director for the Center for Innovation in Construction Safety, Health and Well-being.
Education
Dr. Kleiner holds a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from the State University of New York and a Master of Science in industrial and systems engineering from the State University of New York. His concentrations were in human factors engineering and ergonomics.
