Background
Kyu Jung is the President and Co-founder of Procon Consulting, a nationwide construction management and technology solutions firm based in McLean, VA. Kyu started Procon with childhood friend and fellow Hokie Mark Ilich in 2000 while they were both pursuing their Masters in Building Construction at Virginia Tech.
Procon was built on their shared vision of embracing new technology to improve the construction process and deliver excellent build and infrastructure projects for government and private clients. Kyu has earned a reputation as an industry thought leader, leveraging his passion for construction technology and innovation to transform the A/E/C industry. Under Kyu’s leadership, Procon has grown into a multi-million-dollar ENR Top 100 CM Firm with over 200 employees.
Kyu is committed to investing in the next generation of industry professionals and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across industry, government, and academia. As a board member for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech, Kyu serves as a guest lecturer, sponsors an internship program, and participates in the Coalition for Smart Construction to shape the future vision of the university. Procon also sponsored the Procon Innovation Center in VT’s newly constructed Hitt Hall, where engineering students can access cutting-edge technology to research innovative solutions for construction challenges. In 2023, Kyu launched Procon’s podcast, The Build Up, as a platform for connecting industry leaders and having meaningful conversations that drive the A/E/C industry forward.
Kyu is also actively involved in the local and national small business community through his involvement with the U.S. SBA, local chamber of commerce, as well as formal Mentor-Protégé relationships established to provide mentorship to minority and underutilized businesses in the region.
Kyu holds a Master of Science degree in Architecture with a concentration in Building Construction and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, both from Virginia Tech.
