Background

Kyu Jung is the President and Co-founder of Procon Consulting, a nationwide construction management and technology solutions firm based in McLean, VA. Kyu started Procon with childhood friend and fellow Hokie Mark Ilich in 1998 while they were both pursuing their Masters in Building Construction at Virginia Tech.

Procon was built on their shared vision of leveraging new technology to improve the construction process, and innovating solutions remains core to the Procon DNA over 20 years later. Under Kyu’s leadership, Procon has now grown into a multi-million-dollar company with over 160 employees and has undertaken projects that span the most remote corners of the US and everywhere in between. Procon is now an award-winning leader in the AEC industry for providing holistic construction management solutions.

Kyu remains passionate about embracing innovation and advocating for the future of construction. He has done so through his on-going engagement with Virginia Tech, including serving as a guest lecturer and providing feedback to students during the annual capstone presentations. Procon has also sponsored research projects in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction to explore how robotics and other emerging technologies can be integrated into the construction process. In 2022, he took an even more hands-on role at the school by joining the MLSoC Advisory Board.

Additionally, Kyu hosts Procon's podcast, The Build Up, which engages industry leaders in conversations aimed at increasing awareness and fostering dialogue about innovation and opportunities in the industry within the construction community and beyond.

Kyu is actively involved in the local and national small business communities through his involvement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Virginia Asian American Chambers of Commerce. He has established formal SBA Mentor-Protégé relationships with minority firms in the region, as well as a joint venture with a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business.

With his expertise, leadership, and dedication to excellence, Kyu continues to shape the landscape of architectural, engineering, and construction consulting, driving Procon to new heights of success while exploring technology and innovation, just as he learned to do as a student at Virginia Tech.

Kyu holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Environmental Engineering, and a Master of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Building Construction, both from Virginia Tech.
