Role and Background
Dr. Tripp Shealy serves as an Associate Professor for Civil and Environmental Engineering and graduate program coordinator for the Bowman Sustainable Land Development Program. He joined Virginia Tech in 2015.
Dr. Shealy’s research and teaching center around cultivating sustainable engineering design practices to more quickly respond to changing environmental conditions and community needs. His areas of interest include: climate risks, adaptation planning, and nature-based solutions; barriers to energy transition and adoption of human-centered Infrastructure; industrialization in construction and circular economy principles; and engineering design education for sustainability.
Education
Dr. Shealy holds a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Clemson University.
