Sara Phillips

Responsibilities

Sara Phillips serves as the Human Resources Coordinator for The Myers-Lawson School of Construction. Her main job function is to serve as the main human resources representative and liaison between the school, college, and university. She processes all of the school's J-1 requests including recruiting, hiring, and conducting on and off-boarding processes for all level appointments. She coordinates all aspects of personnel recruitment and hiring and maintains employee records. She also coordinates all international visitors and students to ensure proper work authorizations.

Education

Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Liberty University. She is working towards her MBA in Business Administration from Liberty University.

Background

Sara joined Virginia Tech in 2013 and most recently served as Program Support Tech Senior for the Mechanical Engineering Department’s Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety before joining the Myers-Lawson School of Construction in 2020. She began her time at Virginia Tech in the University Controller’s office as a Travel Analyst. Prior to joining the university, she worked at Shelor Motor Mile as a Financial and Administrative Assistant.
