Role and Background

Dr. Farrokh Jazizadeh serves as the Assistant Professor for Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Vecellio Construction Engineering and Management Program. He joined Virginia Tech in 2015.

Dr. Jazizadeh’s research focuses on informatics for intelligent and adaptive environments and infrastructure systems. In his current research, Farrokh is exploring the intersection of applied machine learning, system integration for adaptive environments, human-building interactions, energy efficiency, digital twins, and infrastructure operational analytics. He also serves as the Founding Director of the INFORM Lab.

Previously, Dr. Jazizadeh served as a Data Analytics Platform Software Developer for Bentley Systems before joining Virginia Tech.

Education

Dr. Jazizadeh holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a focus in Computational Hydrodynamics from Amirkabir University of Technology as well as a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a focus in Construction Engineering and Management and Computer Science from the University of South Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus in Informatics for Intelligent Built Environment from the University of South Carolina.
