Role and Background
Dr. Farrokh Jazizadeh serves as an Associate Professor at the Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the founding Director of INFORM Lab. He joined Virginia Tech in 2015.
Dr. Jazizadeh’s research focuses on informatics for human-centered adaptive environments and infrastructure systems. His research looks at the intersection of AI-powered system integration for inference and adaptation, human-technology interfaces, digitization, operational analytics, and energy efficiency.
Previously, Dr. Jazizadeh served as a Data Analytics Platform Software Developer for Bentley Systems before joining Virginia Tech.
Education
Dr. Jazizadeh received his Ph.D in Civil Engineering with a focus on Informatics for Intelligent Built Environments, an M.Sc. in Computer Science, and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California. He also holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran.
