Role and Background
Dr. Denise R. Simmons, PhD, PE, F.ASEE, PMP, LEED-AP is a professor of civil engineering and serves as the inaugural Associate Dean for Workforce Development for the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida. She joined the Myers-Lawson School of Construction as an Affiliated Faculty in 2024.
Dr. Simmons serves Virginia Tech through the Myers-Lawson School of Construction with a wealth of knowledge in construction workforce development. She contributes to the school’s core values of serving and shaping the industry through engagement and outreach and serving the safety, health, and equitable well-being of constituents.
Education
Dr. Simmons holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in civil engineering and a graduate certificate in engineering education from Clemson University. She is a registered PE, PMP, and LEED-AP and a fellow of ASEE.
