Role and Background

Dr. Alireza Shojaei serves as Assistant Professor for the Department of Building Construction in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. He joined Virginia Tech in 2021.

Dr. Shojaei’s research focuses on digital engineering, construction automation, digital twin and smart cities, construction informatics, computer-based modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence, and project management and economics. In his current role, he aims to impact the challenge of revolutionizing the architecture, engineering, and construction industry toward a more resilient built environment, specifically through digital innovations. 

Previously, Dr.Shojaei served as an Assistant Professor for Mississippi State University before joining the Myers-Lawson School of Construction.

Education

Dr.Shojaei holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, a M.S. in Management from the University of Florida, a Master’s degree in Construction Management with distinction from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the U.K.
