Role and Background

Adedeji Afolabi serves as a Research Associate in the Smart Systems Laboratory within Construction Engineering and Management at the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. He joined Virginia Tech in 2023.

Afolabi's research focuses on both current and future workforce sustainability using data analytics, exoskeletons, robotics, and reality and sensing technologies. He also focused on construction automation, construction robotics (including exoskeletons), human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence-driven automated systems, and physiological sensing for monitoring workers' health and safety.

He aims to enhance construction workforce sustainability through the integration of data-driven automation, robotics, exoskeletons, and sensing technologies, ensuring improved health, safety, and efficiency.

Education

Afolabi holds a Ph.D. in Building Technology with an emphasis on Construction Management from Covenant University, a M.S. in Construction Management, and a B.S. in Building from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
