Steve Daves
Background
Steve Daves is the President/CEO at Dimensional Consulting Co. in Gainesville, VA. He enjoyed a successful, 35+ year-long career at R.W. Murray Co in Manassas, VA where he retired at the end of 2024. During his career, Daves served in various roles on projects in the commercial construction industry throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Daves joined R.W. Murray Co. as a Project Manager immediately after graduation with a B.S. in Building Construction from Virginia Tech in 1989 and rapidly progressed into upper-level management and eventually a partner/owner role prior to his retirement. While there, he was instrumental in the growth of the company through the management and construction of over 16 million square feet of shell-building projects and 21 million square feet of interior projects in the Metro DC area. After retirement from R.W. Murray Co., he established Dimensional Consulting Co. where he serves as its President/CEO. In his current role, Daves provides critical advisory services to numerous clients in the commercial development industry. His primary areas of advisory focus are servant leadership, organizational culture, exceptional client service, strategic project development, and pre-construction planning.
Steve Daves actively participates as a mentor to students, guest lecturer at Virginia Tech, and serves as the Chair of the Industry Executive Board for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. He was named Outstanding Building Construction Alumnus in 2015 and received the school’s prestigious Myers-Lawson Award in 2023. He is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the Associated Builders and Contractors – Virginia Chapter, for which he served on the chapter’s Board of Directors from 2004 to 2016, serving as the state chapter Chairman in 2010, and was named Member of the Year in 2014. He is a Life Director for the Northern Virginia Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and was named Member of the Year in 2005 and Firm of the Year in 2021. He served on the Board of Directors for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce from 2013-2019 and is a 2008 graduate of the Leadership Prince William program and served on its Board of Regents from 2008 to 2010. He has served in numerous volunteer roles with the local government in his home jurisdiction of Prince William County and is currently serving in appointed positions on the Prince William County Building Appeals Board as well as the Virginia Gateway Community Development Authority.
