Preston M. White is a prominent figure in the construction industry and a dedicated alumnus of Virginia Tech. Graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, White soon established Century Concrete in 1966, a company renowned for specializing in structural concrete for high rise buildings and infrastructure, concrete paving for airfields and industrial applications, sound barrier walls, and various concrete foundation systems. As the CEO, he has spearheaded the company's operations for over five decades.

White’s passion for education and community service is evident in his extensive involvement with Virginia Tech and other institutions. Appointed to the Board of Visitors of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University by Governor Ralph Northam in 2018, he served diligently for four years. During his tenure, he was an active member of both the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Finance and Resource Management Committee.

Even before his appointment, White was deeply involved with his alma mater. He generously contributed his time and resources as a member of Virginia Tech’s Ut Prosim Society and the Executive Council of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. In 2008, he and his wife, Catharine, founded the Preston and Catharine White Endowed Faculty Fellowship for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. The couple also assisted in establishing the Yvan Beliveau Endowed Fund for Excellence, leading to the creation of the Bishop-Favrao Build Lab in 2013.

Away from the university, White's commitment to service continues. He is an active member of the Virginia Business Higher Education Council, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation HR Leadership Council, and the Board of Trustees for the New E3 School in Norfolk, Virginia. From 2009 to 2012, he was also part of the Board of Visitors of Christopher Newport University, serving as rector for three years.

As part of his role on the Industry Executive Advisory Board, White worked closely with deans on budgetary matters, directed the finance committee, and led various initiatives to inspire others to donate, including Giving Day initiatives. He also collaborated with the director on strategic initiatives and played a pivotal role in the Hitt Hall initiative. His leadership and devotion extend to being a member of the CAUS Dean's IAB.

A distinguished servant-leader, Preston M. White has left an indelible mark on both the construction industry and the institutions he has served. His loyal and devoted service, outstanding dedication to education and community, and remarkable leadership have earned him widespread respect and admiration.
