John R. Lawson, II
Background
John Lawson is Executive Chairman of W. M. Jordan Company, a privately held Construction Management firm founded in Newport News, Virginia, by John’s father, Bob Lawson, and Bill Jordan. Born and raised in Newport News, John began his career at W. M. Jordan in 1975 after graduating from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in geophysics. Under his leadership, W. M. Jordan has grown with annual revenues in excess of $600 Million providing services to diverse clientele across Virginia and the Carolinas.
As Executive Chairman, John’s focus is on advancing corporate innovation and development opportunities throughout our region. John is a champion for the community, supporting growth and involvement through numerous non-profit and civic organizations. He is currently a board member of the Christopher Newport University Board of Visitors, Chairman of Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) $60 Million Mental and Behavioral Health Capital Campaign and serves on the board of directors for TowneBank, Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech, HR Executive Roundtable, and The Mariners’ Museum.
