Rob Leonard
Role and Background
Rob Leonard serves as an Adjunct Instructor for Building Construction. He joined Virginia Tech in 2024.
Leonard also serves as Owner and Manager of Beeson Acres Resources, LLC where he consults on operations, high-performance building, and develops a variety of construction-related curricula. He has also spent the past six years teaching construction courses at Virginia Western Community College.
In his 45+ expansive construction-industry career, Leonard has worked with and developed organizations and products in all business aspects including sales, marketing, project management, design-build, safety programming, field operations, and fieldwork. He has also hosted regular local TV construction segments. His focus is on building science, high-performing buildings, and improving how buildings are built and renovated.
Education
Leonard A.A. studies in Architecture and Construction Management from Montgomery County Community College and is pursuing an A.A. in General Studies with a focus on Architectural and Personal Fitness from Virginia Western Community College. He was a former Virginia DPOR Class “A” builder and has a number of certifications including HERS Rater, Energy Star Rater, phius Certified Passive House Builder Instructor, phius Trades Professional Program Developer and Instructor, phius Trades Professional Certified Enclosure Specialist, NAHB Certified Green Professional, NCCER Certified Instructor, NCCER Master Trainer, HBI Certified Instructor, NSC Principles of Occupational Safety and Health Trained, OSHA 510 and 500 Certified, OTI OSHA Instructor, ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Health Coach, and ACE Certified Senior Fitness Coach.
