Justin Alexander

Academic Advisor, Myers-Lawson School of Construction

Role and Background

Justin Alexander serves as an Academic Advisor for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. Justin grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and began his advising career in 2024 as a Career Services Advisor for the Electrical and Electronics Systems Technology program at Lincoln Tech in Columbia, Maryland. In this role, he developed strong industry relationships while supporting and preparing the next generation of skilled professionals entering the workforce.

Prior to working in higher education, Justin worked in the banking industry, where he advised both individual and business customers, helping them navigate financial decisions and build long-term relationships. These experiences helped shape his student-centered approach to advising and strengthened his communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Justin’s advising philosophy centers on connection, empathy, problem-solving, leadership, teaching, and accountability. He is passionate about supporting students throughout their academic and professional journeys while helping them identify opportunities for growth and success.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys attending sporting events, trying new foods, going to the gym, listening to music, and participating in community service initiatives.

Education

Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with a minor in African American Studies from Frostburg State University, where he graduated in 2018.
