Courtney Lira

Role and Background

Courtney serves as an Academic Advisor for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. Courtney grew up in southern California and began her career in student affairs in 2017 working at the basic needs center and as an orientation leader at the University of California, Riverside. Needing to escape the heat, Courtney moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 2020 to pursue a masters program. During her time at Oregon State University, Courtney held numerous positions working with students in the Honors College, Student Affairs Communications and Marketing, Academics for Student Athletes and most recently, advising for the College of Business.

Courtney’s personal advising philosophy includes building strong relationships, develop purpose and autonomy, challenge established thinking, provide microaffirmations and support, embrace inclusivity, understand transitions, support personal development, and lead with proactive advising.

Courtney's interests outside of work include reading, camping, concerts, and playing Dungeous & Dragons.

Education

Courtney holds a M.Ed. in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University and a B.S. in Sociology and Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside.
